Artist Statement:

The creation of art is like opening a door in my psyche. I don’t know what will step through or whether I will fall in but either way, once opened….something is bound to happen. That door is the door to my muse. Sometimes it feels like relaxing into something. Sometimes images burn through and a hot desire to create something specific evolves. Mostly though, the door is opened and that act drives a creation process. I think of following the thread. You find a corner of reality and start picking at it until a thread comes loose, then you follow it. This series stems greatly out of both open studio held by Erica Ross and a weekly art night with my girl friends; laughter and music being a great way to call in the Muse!

Bio:

Anna Sapershteyn splits her time between her passions in the visual, performing and healing arts. She is a multi disciplinary artist creating in a variety of media. From performance to painting, sculpture to fashion Anna creates out of the dual principles of inspiration and constraint. As a Registered Massage Therapist since 2013 Anna has been practicing out of the highly regarded multidisciplinary clinic; Aches Away Toronto. On the stage Anna is a dynamic high-energy comedic performer. She is a seasoned circus artist and street performer and her mixture of contemporary circus, clown and character driven story-telling has established her as an arts innovator in Toronto. As a visual artist Anna has been creating clothing, costume, sculpture and painting as outlets for her perception of this human experience.
